Holly's Holiday

Meet little cousin Holly, who previously appeared on this blog as an adorable 13-week-old puppy (here). Since then she has blossomed into a beautiful young lady. She's a bit mad, but then you have to be a bit mad to come and stay here for a while. We've all enjoyed having Holly around while her folks are over in Glasgow.

The countryside is very different to the heart of the city, but Holly appears to be enjoying the wide open spaces and grass so long she can hide in it (and lose tennis balls, but that's another story).

A few days into her holiday, I decided it was time to put this dog to work. I strapped her onto the quad (safety first) and took her with me to check on the lambs in their new field, having been separated from their mothers an hour earlier.

Holly was understandably a little unsure at first, but for a first-timer she did very well.

Those ears are crazy enough to rival Jess's.

The quad switched off, I introduced Holly to the lambs.

The solitary black lamb, Miss Prudence, is doing very well. She's also the first lamb I recognised, for obvious reasons.

So many great faces.

Ebony and ivory.

The lambs were very curious about the quad and the strange-looking, wiggly dog upon it.

This ewe lamb has a great top-knot.

A pretty pair of Kerry Hills.

Some sniffing going on.

A lot of the lambs weren't in the least bit bothered to be separated from their mums.

This lamb could rival Honey in the biggest ears competition.

And what did Holly think of her first ever farming experience?

"This farming lark is so easy! I don't know what all the fuss is about!"

  1. You are going to make me want sheep again! LOL! I had Cheviot's as a kid and absolutely loved them. What kind of pup is Holly?
