The Hedgetrimmer

A couple of days ago you met the lawn mowing lambs - now meet the hedge trimming hogget!

Over the Saint Patrick's weekend I had my little flock in the garden. If there's a hole on the hedge Honey will find it and so it was of little surprise that she was standing on top of the stone wall in a matter of hours. Thanks to Honey's tutelage (use the flowerbeds as a step up onto the wall), Rosie soon learned the trick too.

She helped herself to the yummy leaves and berries.

What have you done to my well behaved Rosie, Honey?

Needless to say, the five of them didn't spend any more time in the garden!

Daft with the Daffodils

Once the daffodils had bloomed in the garden I couldn't resist bringing the lambs in for a play.

And a nibble, because sheep of all ages are good lawnmowers.

Penny thought this grate was worth an investigation.

But who's that little one?

This is Anita, the fourth lamb I've decided to keep this year. I was very happy with my group dynamic of three, but Anita won me over with her cuteness.

She is the youngest and smallest by about a month.

I love the tan speckles on her legs - if I was a betting girl I'd put money on her having at least some tan on her face when she's older. We shall see...

This was Anita's first trip outside.

Maggie inspects the daffodils...

...and that mysterious vent.

Is moss tasty? Not really.

Dried grass? Not really either.

Every time Audrey notices me taking photos of her she has to come over and see if I'm taking them properly.

Penny is as good if not better than many of the lambs you see in the show ring (in my totally humble, unbiased opinion).

Anita enjoying that perfectly manicured garden (cough).

Everyone at the garden gate - is this photo good enough for you, Audrey?

Penny and the Vent II; The Reckoning.

Maggie has stilts for legs.

Another perfect flowerbed for Anita to stand upon. If I was responsible for this garden I'd be very embarrassed right now - oh.

The lambs didn't seem to mind - they had a blast!

Maggie posing in front of those daffodils.

That's it, you little lawnmower...

Go hedgetrimmers!

As if Penny wasn't tall enough, she has to stand on the flowerbed.

Blending in.

Go fetch, Maggie! Good girl.

Such a poser.

Such cute lawnmowers.

There's already some tan on Anita's ears.

Audrey hard and work and lookin' good.

Hello, Honey

Today I went to visit the local Clydesdales because there was a new member of the family I was very excited to meet...

"Mmm, yummy..."

This Colleen's new filly foal, called Honey.

It was pouring rain outside but thankfully Colleen and Honey were in a nice, dry stable.

Born in the early hours of Monday morning (the day of the spring equinox, no less), Honey is still adjusting to those legs.

Thinking about a drink...

She is such a cutie.

A bit of a poser, too, when it suits her.

"One day I'll be this big..."

Honey's best shake-of-a-lamb's tail impression:

Mummy Colleen is very proud of her new baby.

She is a curious foal, but not quite huggable yet.

After almost an hour of skipping around mum it was time for a nap...

...or not! Honey couldn't seem to settle in one place for long.

Another attempt...

I love Colleen's little smile here as she stands over her baby.

She has such kind eyes.

Meanwhile, Honey was on her feet again - but she was really tired.

One more attempt at a nap.

There we go. Sweet dreams, Honey.

A huge thank you goes to Dairylough Clydesdales for letting me visit the adorable new arrival.
