Black & White Sunday #23 ::: Jess' Easter Egg

I saw a doggy Easter Egg in Pets at Home and couldn't resist. Today I nipped outside between rain showers to give Jess her present. Needless to say, she appreciated it! The difficult part was getting her to wait until I had the camera in position...

Happy Easter!

Sticks and Twigs and Pine Cones, Oh My...

I don't often take photos in this little patch of trees - but before I had the chance to arrive, a pair of ewes had decided to take up residence.

While I was standing near to the ewes to take some photos, Jess would come no closer to me. I have no idea why. Let's put it down to great training and leave it at that.

There was a stare-off.

Eventually the pair of ewes scarpered, so Jess came a little closer.

I hadn't taken any posed photos in a while, and I'd forgotten the fundamental thing about Jess: she does not pose for food. Granted, she takes the food, but she doesn't look very interested in the whole affair. I should have brought a squeaky toy with me instead. Perhaps one day I'll learn...

I tried using a stick from off the ground as a substitute, which is why she looks so interested here:

But then Jess realised that the ground was littered with sticks and twigs and pine cones - so why should she be interested in mine?

And then she realised that there were hundreds and hundreds of sticks and twigs at the top of those trees. The look of wonder on her face is priceless!

On our way back to the tractor I stopped to take some more shots, and the unimpressed look was back.

Note to self: bring something squeaky next time.

Visiting the Ewes and Lambs

I often have to move Blue Belle and Suckie out of their field so Dad can drive a tractor through. I went on something of a shopping spree for my 21st birthday at the beginning of this month, so I took the opportunity to test out my new camera lens - a Canon 50mm. I swapped between that and a 70-300mm for this birthday walk.

Suckie often walks just behind Blue Belle.

As Blue Belle just walked around, the sheep took it in turns to run away and then come over to investigate their visitor.

It amuses me that, when I take them both on these visits, Suckie doesn't mix with the other sheep.

Blue Belle rounds up her "flock".

Blue Belle just has to walk and it's scary, apparently.

The lambs were curious too.

Blue Belle had managed to get her left side caked in mud somehow.

She is very pretty, mud or no.

There is a great view from this field too, even on an overcast day like this one.

We drifted closer to the boundary wall...

...and Tilly appeared.

Tilly is the sweet little cat from next door.

She has great eyes.

By this time, Dad was finished with Blue Belle and Suckie's field, so I took them home.
