Teddy's Acting Debut

The guys from Play It By Ear stopped by today for a few hours to film scenes for their upcoming Nativity play. One of the trailers proved to be a useful (if a little creaky) set for Beth to deliver the main monologue. For some added authenticity, Beth the shepherdess was joined by her trusty sheepdog.

And... action!

Even the sheep played supporting roles.

It was a lot of fun, and Teddy even enjoyed a celebratory doughnut when the filming was done.

Getting to Know the Neighbourhood

I took Jess up the hill a few weeks ago to take her photo in front of the mountains. Bless her, the trip up the hill was quite tiring for her. She was a good little sport, though.

Even in the time it takes between two shots. Jess' ears are still undecided about where they should be.

Even at this young age, she's a natural with the camera. She could make money out of modelling, I think.

It was one of those days where the sky was as undecided as Jess' ears.

I think Jess is shocked about something...

Maybe my pocket of treats is empty.

Stare Over There

Jess loves playing with her toys.

She has a little bucket that all her toys stay in. She pulls the toys out as she wants to play with them, but as yet doesn't tidy them away again! She'll chase anything that moves, but if someone picks up just one of her toys, she'll stare at the toy until it returns to her.

She's growing fast. Look at her, she's all legs.

...I don't have your toy.

What are you looking at me like that for?

Five Scoops

My camera club has started up again, and this fortnight's photographic challenge word was "summer". So I was trying to think of a way to illustrate my summer. Jess was the biggest thing that happened to me. And I like ice cream a lot, so...

Jess had just been for a walk, so she was tired. When I lifted her up on the wall and told her to leave the ice cream, she did! She just sat there for a while and I took lots of photos of her.

Even when the ice cream was removed, she still stayed...

What a good girl - have some ice cream.

A Wolf in the Woods (Sort Of)

Jess had a great time in the forest.

We went just as the sun was setting.

Jess had never been to the woods before. There were lots of exciting giant sticks.

I also found it quite exciting because it was a different backdrop for photos compared to wide-open fields.

Jess loved exploring.

Geep

One of these things is not like the others...

(Hint: it's the goat.)

This nanny goat appeared with our flock of ewes quite suddenly, as in she wasn't there one morning but was there the next. Much driving the quad in circles ensued as we tried to determine the gender of our surprise visitor. We eventually decided it was a nanny goat and so it wouldn't cause trouble, shrugged to ourselves and had a little chuckle about it. She'd be gone in the morning, we said.

...Except she wasn't. She's been here for over a fortnight now, running on three weeks, and we have absolutely no idea where she came from. None of our neighbours to our knowledge even has/had a goat.

At first the sheep were scared of her. And she was scared of the quad. So she would run and then the sheep would run away from her and then she would think there was something to run from so she followed the flock and... you get the idea.

The sheep are still a little suspicious.

Since she's decided she's staying, the goat is now referred to as Nana. Nana has been spotted trying to hide behind Norman's mum.

I can hardly tell the difference. The rams have joined the ewes since Nana's appearance. They're not all that fazed anymore. (There was initially some running away, but it has stopped now.)

Maybe we'll end up with a little geep, though probably not. I would like a geep. It has become one of my favourite words.

The ewes were watching me very closely...

...Or maybe they were keeping a close eye on Jess, who was running around as I took the photos.

She loves the quad quite a lot, which is great for a Greenhill Farm dog.

Norman was in the field next door from the ewes, but has since joined them. Hopefully lots of little Normans on the way.

I will leave you with this intelligent thought: geep. *chuckles*
