Twins

We have had our first twin lambs of the season born here at Greenhill Farm.

At first, there was just one lamb, a little ewe. We put them in a pen and that was that.

But the next morning, we were in for a surprise.

And then there were two!

The new lamb is a male, also the first of the season.

He has a rather large brown spot on his back, so it’s easy to tell them apart.

Time for a nap, I think.

And a congratulations is in order for my friends Charlotte and Emma, who have a new pony, TJ.

He’s adorable. Good luck with him girls!

  1. Ah, the cuteness of little lambs:)
We had an incident like your's once. The ewe had a lamb, passed the afterbirth which to that point had always signaled the end of any more lambs to be born. We got them all sorted out, phoned our neighbour who wanted to bring her grandchildren to see, and then went out for a few hours. When we came home we were totally shocked to see that there were now two lambs!!

  2. Ahh, lambing season. I go to college that is big for animal sciecne/pre-vet... so we have barns full of sheep, pigs, cows, horses, etc. I always enjoy looking at the little lambies and kids. :) So cute ^.^

  3. Aww, the little lambs are so cute! When I was a kid I always told my parents that I wanted to marry a farmer. I guess I wanted to see the wonder of animals being born and stuff like that. It's so neat that you get to see that!

P.S.--I think I'm over wanting to marry a farmer after I saw the word "afterbirth!"
