Pip ::: 6 Weeks

Pip is growing at an alarming rate, and we can already notice that she is a little larger than she was when she first came home. She is really coming out of her shell, too, and is getting a lot bolder around us. She even manages to walk around the yard after me. Her play biting stage has started, and she seems to like rubber:

But then again, she likes her toys, too.

Staring at the ball.

Eating the ball.

Chewing on another toy, which is much bigger than herself.

Falling over.

Showing off her ears.

Here’s Pip’s puppy video for this week. I will try to make one every week, but it’s not a guarantee!

Enjoy!

Madness will never be the same again

Partly because mum’s only gone and got herself another dog! Why? What’s the point of having so many dogs? Why does she need so many? Why are they all brown?!
Sheila

I think she’s great!
Madness

If only Pip thought Ben was great, too. I want Pip to get to know Ben first because he’s the best influence of the lot. As soon as she sees him, she squeals and runs away.

It’s not my fault.
Madness

I know, I’m just pointing it out. I’m now going to share with you the End Of Summer party, held in my Granny’s garden. Nice. In attendance were Sheila:

Ben:

And that other one:
Madness

Jack surprised me, because instead of playing with the other dogs, he just went into a corner and chewed up things all by himself.

I want to away from the arguing husband and wife in the other corner, that’s what.
Madness

He stayed there all day and chewed up a football and a few other toys that Sheila and Ben weren’t fighting over at the time. In the two hours that we stayed in the garden, Jack managed to destroy a football and a fluffy toy.

Meanwhile, where the action is…
Madness

That’s some nice voodoo, Ben!

Ben, Pip and a Cheeky Monkey

I’ve got some big news to tell you… but first… look at what Ben got rid of!

Is this for real?! Did you really take it off or am I just dreaming? If so - don’t wake me up!
Ben

Yep, Ben got his lampshade off, and he was very happy about it, too. It had gotten all dirty and just a week after it was put on, I decided to take it off him. The sheer excitement on his face was plain to see, and he celebrated his freedom with a few laps of the farm.

But back to the big news (yes, even bigger that Ben getting his Cone of Doom off). I went to see the puppies again yesterday. They are now six weeks old and running around the yard like pros. They were so playful. This puppy was shy.

You scares me!
Puppy

They were running in and out of the coal house, so they were a bit darker than usual.

I’m black. I eats the coal. *Nom, nom, nom…*
Puppy

There was one really bold puppy nicknamed ‘Monkey’. she ran towards me on the ground with gusto!

I see human!
Monkey

She was so sweet! I was really tempted to take her instead of my original choice. She was bold, ate my trousers and climbed onto my lap - who could resist?!
Monkey

There was only one problem, I just couldn’t resist Pip (who could, really?). I had to find her first, though, because two of the female puppies were very similar.

This wasn’t her.
Puppy

But this was (the giant puppy next to Monkey):
Monkey & Pip

That’s her, that’s my Pip…

…and here she is at home! (Didn’t see that coming, did ya?!)
Pip

Well, neither did I, to be honest - but it was a nice surprise! She even has some coal left on her nose.
Pip

I let her out for a little wander - here she is, being a natural poser:
Pip

And she even managed to climb up onto a step all by herself:
Pip

I’m in love already.

Old Teddy: Dog of 1981

This is a photo from August 1981 of a fantastic cattle dog that may Dad and has Dad used to own.
Teddy

He’s a handsome chap, isn’t he? His name was Teddy. My Dad was probably the one who took the photo. I thought it was quite a find.

And here’s a hidden jem:

The Collar of Doom

Here are a few photos before I felt all funny and had to wear this stupid collar.

This is me the day before:

This is me while on a walk:

And me being simply magnificent:

In other news, I went for my first walk yesterday since I started feeling funny. It says on the sheet from the vet that I can have short lead exercise. It was very exciting!

I still have a shaved leg, though.
Ben

See where I chewed my Collar Of Doom? It’s so annoying - I couldn’t resist!

I Hate Lampshades

Hi. Ben here.

I feel weird. Like there's something missing. Do you know what it is?

I'm sure you do. My mum has a big, fat mouth. She's always on this laptop thing she has, instead of caring for me!

Do you feel sorry for me yet?

Dad took me to the vet yesterday. It was scary. They had funny clothes on. Not your normal coat and wellies. They took me though a door which I didn't want to go through and I don't really remember much after that. I know I fell asleep, though.

A few hours later my mum and her mum came to pick me up on the way home from school. My bum was really itchy so I started scratching it and nibbling it. They didn't like to see me doing that, so they told the vet and came out with this thing. It's so annoying - I can't even walk properly with it!

I can't wait to get this thing off.

King Ben

Ben is the king of this establishment. He gets a treat for doing so.

Ben

Ben’s going to the vet on Tuesday for a life-changing operation. Castration. Poor man. It all started when Kim came into heat last week. It’s just too risky to keep him entire. Wish him luck next Tuesday with his routine  (not quite so routine for him) operation.

Introducing... Pip - 4 Weeks

This is just a quick post to let you know how Pip from Rua's new litter is getting on. She's about a month old now and running around the yard with her litter mates - one black and white, one tri-colour and four other brown and white puppies. I could have stayed there all day!

Pip

She's so adorable! I can't wait to bring her home next month - she even licked my nose - how cute?!

Kinelarty Star of Co. Down... and Ben too

Yesterday was the day of the Seaforde Annual Vintage Rally. Last year's was sunny, but this year there was rain. Bah! I was one of a few who stayed on during the rain... but many tractors and people left. The clouds had moved in, and there was no sign of the rain stopping. Luckily, I could take shelter in a stall that was in a tent. Ben was even small enough to fit under the stall.

Ben

There was only one problem with my shelter stall of choice... I leaked. I was more of a plastic sheet sort of thing that an actual tent. So the ran was running off the roof and onto me. Not good. There was only one option left, hide under the Kinelarty Mobile! Star was there too.

Star

Star was hiding from the rain with her owners. Ben jumped into the van Kinelarty Mobile with her and they had a little play, but eventually boredom set in. The rain just kept coming.

Star and Ben

To put an end to his boredom, Ben became a suck up.

Looking up

As you can see, Star was not impressed. She doesn't like boys anymore because she had a puppies nine weeks ago. This is an excuse for puppy pictures! The puppies soon after they were born:

They are very, very cute! Personal transport:

And a little exploring:

Little explorers

Whenever the rain died down a little, the carts came out.

Ben was a little tired so he decided to hitch a ride.

What are you doing in my cart? And why are you eating my dog?!
Star and Ben

Now he's eating my straw! Are you seeing this?!
Star and Ben

Why has no-one got him out yet?
Star and Ben

If you ask me, he could do with some manners!
